Our planet is facing a global emergency of unprecedented due to the climate crisis. To counter the narrative we need new and disruptive energy technologies. Progress here can make our planet a better place to live, to minimize the harmful effects of climate change and to ensure a high level of life. The harvesting of energy through green and clean is the way to go to preserve our civilization. As said Jimmy Carter once: no one can ever embargo the sun or interrupt its delivery to us"; the sun is the best gift for mankind and the harvesting of the solar light at a reduced price to solve our problems of energy demand in great extent. The renewable technology will boost the energy transition and also will induce geopolitical changes, creating new partnerships and business models. The countries that are currently suppliers of fossil fuels will have to reinvent themselves, or to adopt new technological approaches to remain competitive. The demand for current energy of our planet is approximately 16 Terawatts (TW); by 2050 we will need energy for 10 billion people, and this will be about 30TW.

To bridge this gap, we need new approaches and changes in the current paradigm. The electric light did not come from the continuous improvement of the candles, but through disruptive innovation.
The social pressure to adopt sustainable energy has made photovoltaic (PV) -or solar panels - one of the main contenders. Currently, the photovoltaic industry is dominated by technology based on silicon, which has reached the masses and has achieved the parity of the network (that is to say, cost parity with traditional sources of energy) in some parts of the world. The cost of solar energy have already fallen 77 per cent between 2010 and 2018 due to an annual growth rate of 7.9% in renewable energies.

In recent years, the photovoltaic sector has witnessed an increase in terms and the drastic reduction of the prices; however, the manufacture of silicon solar cells is still a process that consumes a lot of energy -that is to say, the energy consumed to produce the technology - the payback time of energy - remains high, and the rate of production is not equipped to adapt quickly to the challenges of meeting the future demand. But today a new generation of solar technology could be the answer.

Solar cells based classical silicon, are today a mature technology or first generation.
